Gift Giving Season!

The first of the school year holidays is upon us!  Happy Thanksgiving Weekend to you all!  I hope that you all take some time to hug those you love and be thankful for all your blessings!  I am going to be spending the entire weekend with my kidlets...3 precious little beauties that I am so thankful for!
I have been crazy busy lately prepping for my Cool Yule Christmas Class on October 15, and so I have spent most spare nights in my stamp room.  Lots of time to think about crafting ideas.  How about this one as a quick and easy gift wrapping option?  A simple mason jar can look so pretty, why not fill one with pretty soaps as a hostess gift this year?  Or maybe some yummy shortbread (I wont complain if you stop by my house with a jar of cookies LOL)  Here is what I came up with...

I used some DSP and glued it into the inside ring of the lid.  I used the new stamp set Gently Falling to stamp the leaves on the newsprint DSP.  The big bold button is available in the Holiday Mini.  I hope you like it!

Stampin' Up! Has Fabric....

This is something I decided to make from my new fabric set... Spice Cake... thanks, Stampin' Up! for coming out with fabric!

Jolly Bingo Wedding Bells

First of all, let me start by apologizing for taking so long to post.  It has been a very busy start to the new school year, and I haven't had much time to sit and make cards.  Luckily, I had an excuse to get into my stamp room tonight to play.  My cousin is getting married tomorrow, and when I was chatting tonight with my sister, we both realized that we had to come up with a wedding card... quickly.  You have heard me talk about Stampin' Connection, a fabulous online sharing spot for Stampin' Up! demonstrators, so that was were I headed for some inspiration.  I was instantly drawn to one card on the showcase, and when I clicked on it, I found out that it was created by one of my fabulous and creative downline members, Meghan Nishi!  I am so lucky to have such a talented group of stampers around me to inspire me and show me a thing or two!   I cased her card, mostly.

When I was making this card, I used the Tiny Tags stamp set for the Mr &  Mrs.   When I opened the clear mount case, I realized that one of my jolly bingo bits stamps had gotten put away in the wrong case.  And there it sat...screaming at me to turn it into a sparkly wedding bell.  How?  I simply stamped the bell image in versamark, added heat and stick powder, ran my heat gun over it ever so slightly until the entire image was sticky, and then I added some dazzling diamonds.  Who doesn't love a sparkly wedding bell?

Here is a close up of those bells!
And on that note, I better get into bed so that my feet are well rested for all the dancing tomorrow night!
Thanks for checking in!

Little Birdie House

Friday night brought an impromptu stamp session with a couple of fellow stampers and good friends... my sister brought along a little gift for me... A sweet little bird house made from one of the templates that we have access to as demonstrators (just another little perk!)  You can view her's here... http://www.catnappincreations.blogspot.com/
Well.. I just had to make one for myself, and you can probably guess what colour scheme this little girl got... Thats right.. the spice cake collection... Pool party, more mustard, soft suede and very vanilla.  I used the one inch circle punch to make the shingles (I LOVE that I got to use up so many little scraps!).  Hope you enjoy!
Want to know what the little sitting post was made from?  A certain good friend of mine gave me a whack load of mini IKEA pencils (taken with permission of course!)  and I have been trying to come up with something creative to do with them.  I think this little idea works perfectly.  I was actually thinking of lifting the roof and adding some post it notes... the perfect little fall desktop addition!

have a seat

The clear mount Have a Seat seat (14.95$)  is a very versatile set.  I have used this little bench for Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary, and Happy Retirement!   I loved pairing it with the new Gently Falling set for the leaves and of course, my new favourite DSP.... Spice Cake.  Did I mention there is coordinating fabric for this line?  I think I may have to make a quilt for my bedroom from it!  Hope you enjoy the card....

Spice Cake collection

OK Ladies... I am in LOVE!!!!   I just got my demonstrator order that included a whole bunch of  new goodies from the Holiday Mini Catalogue that is available for ordering from on September 01.  Wowie!  I think that I may have just found my new favourite colour combination, straight from the new Spice Cake collection which includes DSP and Fabric.  More Mustard, Pool Party, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla.  Very Very Cool!
I used my new Have a Seat stamp set to make this little place card holder for the Thanksgiving table.  Pop a few after dinner sweets inside (oh...or maybe some pumpkin fudge!)  and there you have a cute little way to pretty up the table.

Sour Cream Container

Hello Everyone....
I finally got my August edition of the Stampin' Success magazine... it is another great perk of being a demonstrator...we recieve one issue per month and it is jammed full of inspiration.  There was an article that showed these quick and easy treat holders, I think I might have to make a bowl of these to have on hand during the Christmas holidays.  These would also make a great favour for weddings, birthday parties, etc...  And the Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper is such great paper to work with when folding, not a rip anywhere!  I also used my Sticky Strip (the stampin version of duct tape!), which I always use when making 3D items to make sure that all of my hard work sticks!

This sweet little  Christmas treat is made from DSP from the Beau Chateau pack,  Very Vanilla seam binding.

Happy Stampin!

Beau Chateau

I played along with Mojo Monday again tonight, so much fun to have a sketch in front of you to getting your brain going!  This one was made from the Beau Chateau DSP that I am having so much fun playing with... come to think of it, I need to stock up my soft suede cardstock so that I can keep making more!

Mojo Monday Sketch Play Along

Hello Stampers....
I have found myself stuck this past week, throwing most of my stamping projects in the recycle bin because I just couldn't make a thing that I liked.  So I zipped over to the Mojo Monday blog for a little sketch inspiration.  I followed the sketch, added my own papers and embellishments and stamps, and voila!  Something I am proud of.... I'll have to hold on to this one until the fall, as I know about a trillion people having babies in November.

And a close up....

If you are wondering where the little words "Cherish every moment"  came from, its from the Beau Chateau DSP, I just trimmed the saying!

Also... if you haven't already heard, Designer Series Paper is on Sale for the month of August... order 3 packs and get the fourth for FREE!  Order online or contact me directly!

Happy Stampin!

Sweet Little Surprise!

I opened the curtains this morning to find a little present from Stampin' Up!.  There are so many great perks to being a demonstrator, one of them being an incredible amount of FREE merchandise.  I wanted this set as soon as I saw it in the new catalogue, but hadn't ordered it yet!  Yeah me, now I don't have to!

My friends are expecting their second baby, and just found out that its a bouncing baby boy!  I thought I would drop this little card by there house this weekend as a congrats!  and of course, I used my new stamp set.  The cow jumping over the moon is from Nursery Suite.

Happy Stampin' Everyone!

Birthday Weekend

Hello Everyone,
A quick post tonight, we didn't get home until 8 30., and then I had to make two cards for a triple birthday party we are going to tomorrow.  PRESSURE!  hahaha..  here are the pics.

Here's a little thing I learned tonight... I needed something to catch the extra glass glitter for around my happy birthday frame (adhered using  Crystal Effects)  and I was in too much of a hurry to dig out my powder pals catcher, so I grabbed one of the extra scallop envelopes I had laying on the table.  It worked perfectly and was so cute.  I think my next group of stampers that need a "catcher"  may each get one of these.  fun!

Lollipop Scallop Envelope

Hello Everyone.
I am starting to think about birthday party favours...Addisyn's birthday is only a couple of weeks away..Yikes :)
There is a new candy store in town, Sugar Connection, and I surprised the kids with a little trip there for being so good while we were downtown.  I eyed up this cute old fashioned Lollipop and NEEDED one to create with.  This is what I came up with.

I ran the scallop envelope die through the Big Shot twice, once with Pacific Point Cardstock, and one with Patterned Paper.  I trimmed the DSP to fit inside the blue one.  I used the Word Window Punch to create the slot for the lollipop to sit in.  The banner is made from the brand new set Pennant Parade.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wedding Shower Thank-you Cards

Hello Everyone,
If you've been following along, you will remember that I am in a wedding this August, and tomorrow night my mother-in-law is hosting a wedding shower for the bride.  The bride is not the type of girl to have trinkets around, so I thought she would appreciate this practical gift.  I am going to include a bottle of wine and some bath goodies so that she can relax after making it through all the wedding thank-yous!
I CASED this card from my incredibly talented sister, Sheila Batty.  You can find her at  http://www.catnappincreations.blogspot.com/
I made the cards out of Stampin' Up! Natural Ivory paper and used the coordinating envelopes.  The butterflies were cut out using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit, but this time I cut them out of the same hand crafted paper that we made her invitations out of.  I hope she likes them!
A close up of the details on the front of the card.

I made a set of these cards for her.

Then I made a box out of Early Espresso Cardstock and a Window Sheet for the lid.
I still have to decorate the front, but I'm giving my hands a little rest!

Happy Stampin!

Christmas in July

Hello Everyone,
Our summer has felt alot more like fall this year, I've worn pants most days, haven't even used up one bottle of sunscreen on the kids, and its a oven baked meals most nights!  Maybe thats what got me in the mood for a Christmas card.  Also, this is just a little hint that my Third Annual Cool Yule Christmas Class is only a couple of months away!  I've got to start planning, and I hope you start thinking about attending!
Here is our little Christmas teaser...
This card uses Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede, and Baja Breeze cardstock.  All edges are inked in Soft Suede with a dauber.  That great texture is the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder, and the ribbon is seam binding, gathered.

Have a great night!

Sunflower Card how to

Hello Everyone,
I have been getting requests to share the details of the recent sunflower card that I recently made...
Here is the how to...
  • Stamp En Francais background stamp in crumb cake on naturals ivory CS
  • Stamp with Versamark  and Clear Emboss the Sunflower background stamp directly in the middle of the En Francais piece.
  • Use a sponge (NOT a dauber) and use So Saffron first, around the outer edges, then cajun craze, and finally Early Espresso in the center.
  • Decorat as desired
Hope that helps.  Happy Stampin'

Creating More Outta Mini Milk Cartons

Hello Everyone,
I have found the perfect party favour for a monkey themed birthday party... sweet treat holders that are created from 2 mini milk cartons.  The colours that I used are Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, and Lucky Limeade.  The stamp set is Fox and Friends.

Can you guess what is inside?  Mini marshmallow bananas (you know the yellow ones that they sold at the corner store when we were  kids.  Super yummy!

To make this cute little box....
  • cut out two mini milk carton die cuts using your Big Shot (one more reason you NEED one!)
  • trim off one panel from milk carton cut out (not the panel with the tab attached)
  • sticky strip together using fold in tabs (tabs to the inside)
  • fold up bottoms, sticky strip together.
  • Use your crop-a-dile to make the holes for the ribbon around the top.
  • Thread with ribbon, and voila.....
Hope you enjoy... Im off to eat marshmallow bananas!

Beautiful Butterflies

I was completely inspired by my sister (Sheila Batty) when she showed me her rainbow butterfly card she had made.  A simple white card front with a tonne of the beautiful wings embosslit butterflies on it.   Such a simple card to make, but so so effective.  I have this one posted on Stampin Connection (a world of samples, discussions, advice, tips, etc.  available only to demonstrators...another reason you should join my team!)  and it has gotten alot of positive feedback, so I hope you like it too.
The colours for this card were choosen straight from the Colour Coach.  Bashful Blue, Real Red, and Crumb Cake.

And another... this one is for a wedding that we area going to in a couple of weeks.  I also added smooch spritz to the entire front of the card for  a little extra elegance.

Life is a Matter of Moments

Hello Everyone!

Thanks for stopping by today, I am so excited about all of the new people who are checking in on a regular basis, this blogging thing is really alot of fun.  I love your feedback, so feel free to leave your comments.
Tonights card turned out really pretty, I am really liking the new embossing frames pair, it adds such a nice touch.  The colours of this card are Soft Suede, Ivory Natural, and Baja Breeze.  To get the gather on the tails of the bow, I simply cut my seam binding off the roll, picked away at the threads a little, and pulled up on the lengthwise threads, easy peasy, but o so cute!
Hope you enjoy tonights card!

New Hostess Program

Hello Everyone! Has it been awhile since you were a hostess at a workshop?  Do you love getting free Stampin' Up! product simply by stampin with friends?  Then maybe you should check out our new hostess benefits program that was released with the new cattie!  With the previous hostess program, you were locked into choosing from specific stamp sets, and if you already had them, or weren't fond of any, well.. too bad for you :(  NOW, however, you earn hostess dollars which can be used on hostess only products or you may spend your money on regular catalogue merchandise!  also... you can earn 1/2 price items based on your party total.. How cool is that?
One of my favourite hostess only stamp sets is called Faith in Nature, and is available to hostesses for only 10 hostess dollars! WOW!  Here is a card that I CASEd from my upline and sister, Sheila Batty.  You can check out her original and all kinds of other really creative stuff here....   http://www.catnappincreations.blogspot.com/

Banners Banners Everywhere!

Hello Everyone,
The banner seems to be the "it" thing right now, Stampin' Up! has jumped on board with the pennant parade stamp set, pennant punch, pennant chipboard....  so it seemed fitting tonight to try a banner for myself.
I got the idea to use the jewelery punch for the banner straight out of the catalogue.  I always seem to miss all of the little tips and tricks that are jammed into our fabulous catalogue, but this one caught my eye.  You can see it on page 140 of the 2011/2012 IB&C.  I used my cherry cobbler bakers twine, and simply unwound the cherry cobbler so that I had a clean piece of white threading.  I like how crisp and clean this turned out.  And I LOVE finding something else to do with the tools that I already have!  Hope you have fun trying this one out!

Something Old, Something New....

Hello Everyone,  I can hardly believe it.. I made it into the stamp room in the daylight!   My older two children are at Vacation Bible School this week, the youngest is napping, and Daddy is working nights so he's snoring too!   The perfect time to slip quietly into my stamp room... Yahoo.   Can you pick out the four things in this card that match the bridal rhyme?
I will help you out....
Something Old.... Vintage Vogue stamp set that I have had since it came out!   If you've ever stamped with me, you know I love making "friend" cards!
Something New...  New colour  "Wisteria Wonder", and the oval frame using the new embossing folder set.
Something Borrowed..... I was inspired by a card made by a friend, Cristina Findlay....now... my card turned out nothing like hers, but I have to give credit to how she always inspires me with beautiful creations!
Something Blue.... Bashful Blue cardstock and ink.
Enjoy!  Im off to play some more before everyone wakes up!

Scallop Envelope

Hello Everyone,
When I was in my stamp room tonight, I remembered that I had just received a scallop envelope die in the last delivery, and had thrown it into my basket where it has just sat :(   I made a quick and easy little birthday card using the Just Add Cake DSP and the Little Friends stamp set.
For those of you who were at club last week and didn't get to stamp "happy birthday" on your card, I FOUND the little stamp.  Right there in the Little Friends stamp set where it was supposed to be.  Bring your card by sometime and we can add the greeting!
Here is the card I came up with....

Creating Faux Mirror

Hello Everyone... tonights experiment was playing around with the new Designer Frames Embossing Folder Set (item # 123130   10.95 for two frames!)  I found this really sweet tissue pack at the grocery store today and impulsively bought it.  I decided to give it a little home in case I needed a quick get well gift (there is a nasty flu going around town, yuck)  I ran the oval frame through the big shot using cherry cobbler cardstock, and then I did it again using a pop can.  I cut the little bumps off of the pop can frame, using sticky pages to adhere to the cherry cobbler frame, and voila... a little mirror!  How very vintage looking!

Mini Milk Cartons

Hello Everyone!
Tonights picture is of a little mini milk carton set that I have seen all over the internet in various forms.  I had to come up with a craft for ten children that can be completed in 45 minutes.  With the big shot, this is an easy task.. I ran the milk carton die through my machine, and in 10 minutes, I had enough for the entire group! Yippee... time saved!  Hope you enjoy...

Domestic Goddess

I am not a domestic goddess, but I am loving the new DSP by the same name.   I am adding to my display shelf using this paper set with Pool Party and Calypso Coral...think refreshing!
Here is a card that I made using this paper and the Nursery Times stamp set.  The greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes (a must have!)

Monday, July 11, 2011

oops...here is that card...

Backgrounds stamps...have you got yours?

OK, so my new obsession in the stamp world may be all of the amazing new background stamps in the new catalogue!!!  I like big stamps, less space left over for me to mess up! LOL...  The following card uses both the En Francais and Sunflower background stamp.  Here is the quick version....
  • Stamp En Francais using crumb cake on Natural Ivory paper.
  • Stamp Sunflower using versamark and emboss using clear embossing powder.
  • Sponge Early Espresso, Cajun Craze and So Saffron from center to edge starting with darker colours first.
  • Stamp greeting, punch out, and adhere...

New Colours are Perfect!

Have you got your hands on the new catalogue yet?  It is simply amazing!  I am so happy to put last year's on the shelf and dig in to all the fun new papers, colours, tools!!!   Stampin' Up! must have a new design team, because the samples this year are fabulous!
I made a birthday card for Bryce's cousin, Ashley, who babysits our kids when Im at work.  She is such a sweet young lady, and its her 19th birthday today... here is what I made...
These great new colours are a part of this years in colour collection... pool party (the lighter colour) and island indigo.. I'm just waiting on my big shipment to arrive on Friday, it has some pool party ruffled ribbon in it that I am dying to use.
Anyhow... off to the pool for the afternoon!

Sweet and Sour Thank-yous

Hello Stampers,
Have you checked out the retired list yet?  So many great stamp sets, papers, and embellishments are on their way out the door.  I went through my stash last night and made a little tribute to one great DSP   that is leaving us at the end of the month, sweet and sour.  You can still purchase this amazing paper from my website   http://www.brendareed.stampinup.net/   Be sure to check the clearance bin, too, before you check out, as there are some fantastic deals to be had.
I have an idea brewing that is going to require alot of thank-you cards, so I sat down and made a few... here is what I came up with...

And if you have been wondering where on earth I go to when Im not posting, here is a little glimpse at some of the things we get up to around here....

Making lavendar lemonade with the recipe Aliyah got from her field trip to the Lavender Labrynth.

Spreading easter crepe strips all over the deck.. Addisyn looks "busted"!

See that intent look in his eyes?  He has spotted the quad!  Getting to be such a big boy!

Anyhow... thanks for checking in...

Lots of Giggles around here

Tonight as I was bathing Addisyn, Aliyah asked if she could just stick her feet in for a quick scrub.  Since she had already showered this morning, I said okay and walked back out to the kitchen to check on Carter.  All of sudden she is laughing hyserically and calling me..  I go back to find that she slipped into the bubble bath, fully clothed, and it has struck her funny bone.  Oh how they keep me busy!
I apologize for no pic, but I wanted to let you know that the retired list is now available!  Wow...some really great sets are going that I am going to miss for sure!  Friends 24-7 (tear), Sock Monkey and Accesories (I made my sons birth announcements with him!)  Bugs and Kisses (it was on my purchase soon list!)  Anyhow... this just means one thing... we will soon be holding the new catalogue full of great new stuff!  I would recommend that when you puruse the retiring list and would like to order something before its gone forever, that you place your order directly online so as not to miss anything (once they are sold out, thats its...gone!)  Don't forget that when you place an online order, the same hostess rules apply... spend 200 and receive 20 dollars in free product and a level one stamp set.  AND> you can also order online from the clearance rack for some fabulous deals!
Check out the SHOP  ONLINE  link on my business website.

Father's Day Project (Part One)

Hello Stampers!
All of the supplies that coordinate with the Nautical Expedition DSP are still on my craft table, so I thought I'd use them again tonight.  I wanted to use my mini milk carton die and make one of those sweet little milk carton carriers that are everywhere on the internet.  I thought that they would be great for a father's day gift since my dad loves his little treats.  I thought about filling them with all of Dad's favourites...cashews, jelly beans, peanuts, and scotch mints... and then slipping a little gift card in there  somewhere.  Anyhow... all that thinking about goodies made me start craving chocolate chip cookies, so I ended up in the kitchen after only making two of the cartons.  Here is a picture of one of them, and I will upload the entire project when I'm done.  Have a great day!

Trying something different!

Hello Everyone,
Thanks for stopping by!  After a fabulous long weekend on the West Coast, I am back home and enjoyed a little stamping time this evening.    Here is what I came up with...

And I will give you the side view and then explain what I did...
I wanted to make a big card that I could use for a wedding, perhaps a little inspired by all the wedding talk this weekend.
I used the Sail Away individual stamp, and stamped with Early Espresso on the Nautical Expedition DSP.  I then used a window sheet as an overall.  I stamped the window sheet with Versamark using the Medallion background stamp.  Then, I heat embossed using clear embossing powder... I and I am loving the look.  I had no idea you could heat emboss on window sheets, I always assumed they would melt, but they look great!
Well..thats it for tonight...I'm off to mow the lawn!

Who Woulda Thunk It?

Well... I've been a bit blown away...(heheheh)
I expidited my last order (a small extra fee to have your order here asap!  You should try it next time!)  and the lovely truck pulled up to my door this afternoon!  I think the delivery guy thought I was a bit crazy as I shouted "It has STAMPIN UP! written on the box!!!" (My effort at speeding him up in finding the box in the back of his truck!)
So as soon as the munchkins were snoring this evening, I was ripping into that box like it was Christmas!  I have been seeing some amazing things done with this little stamp that I completely overlooked when I flipped through the summer mini catalogue.  I never thought I would like it, let alone be able to do anything worthwhile with it.  Well, I'm pretty sure I was wrong!  I love this card!  If you are a club member this week, you are one of the lucky ones who gets to make a wonderful "guy" card!  Never an easy task, but so much simpler with this  great individual stamp!  Enjoy!

Another Take-out box

I love making these little take out boxes using the petal one die (which, by the way, is carried over if you happened to miss ordering it from the occasions mini catalogue! 43.95)  This week, I have a mother and daughter hosting a workshop with me... the daughter is an early teen and really loves stamping with her mom!  So I thought that she deserved her own little hostess gift, too!  I can't spoil the surprise and tell you whats in them, but I'm pretty sure they will get some use out of the goodies!  I monogrammed them using the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet (set of 12) Medium sizzlits Dies for the big shot!  Gotta get one of those soon if you haven't already!
Happy Stampin'!
